The Dacey Porcelains studio originated as Green Creek Pottery in 1980. It was established in Green Creek NC by Doug Dacey. Since its opening, Doug Dacey's porcelain art forms have became a strong hold for Western North Carolina pottery. His production and marketing of functional and sculptural work has set the bar for potters all across the east coast.
Doug Dacey started his journey in porcelain at the University of Central Florida and received his B.F.A. Determined to reach excellence in his porcelain designs, Doug decided to master his art. He returned to school at the New york State College of Ceramics at Alfred in 1978. He finished his schooling at the University of South Carolina in 1980 and received his M.F.A.
Doug has joined many craft guilds including the Southern Highland Craft Guild, which he has also been on the board of directors from 1997-2000 and from 2002-2008.
Since finishing his master's program Doug has continued honing his skills by teaching and lecturing, as well as by working hands on every day in his NC studio. Every summer he instructs at the John C. Campbell Folk School and he also doesw guest seminars across the area. Through out the years Doug has been honored at many shows across the eastern US by winning prizes at various art shows, such as his 2008 Best In Show win.
Dacey Porcelains will continue to grow as Doug creates more of his innovative and organically beautiful pieces and processes of the porcelain arts.
